How much should I have to spend if I would like to begin with a webhosting business?

Wһаt wіƖƖ bе tһе individual expenditure fοr аƖƖ requirements such аѕ getting a domain name, getting a high-bandwidth connection(T3 οr OC), search engine submission, licences, taxes & maintanance? Please mention іf I һаνе left out anything very vital.

    Depends how many staff you’re plotting on having. I’d budget for about £1,000,000 for year 1 running a skeleton crew.

    Depends on what kind of quality and how long u want it for. but if you are going for the best i would advise that you start of with around 400-600 pounds.

    Domains names – very low-cost (not more then $10)
    Connection – not sure – but I doubt not too expensive
    Servers – within the range of $10,000-20,000 (depends what your looking for)
    Search engine submission – Free; If you site is excellent enough, the major search engines (Y!, Google, MSN) will index your site automatically
    Licenses/Taxes – Sorry I wouldnt know
    Maintanance – Depends how much you know and what goes incorrect – cant really place an exact figure on it.

    I’d say around $50,000 as a bare bare bare minimum.

    But it depends how much you know – may possibly you build a website? No? Going to have to pay someone to do that. etc

    Getting a single domain name is low-cost – less than $25/yr. If you plot to offer this service to your clients, it will be much more.

    A high bandwidth connection will be dependent upon your provider and how much upload bandwidth you wish to offer. It will easily be several hundred/mo and possibly thousands/mo depending on what you envision.

    search engine submisson is mostly dependent upon how you design your web pages although there are commercial services that you can pay for to get more exposure.

    You also have the cost of the server hardware and appropriate backup solutions with redundant solutions to deal with failures unless you want your customers to be without access every time one of your components fail.

    You’ll have the expense of utilities and possibly rent depending on where you house the servers. Electrical costs will be dependent upon how many servers you run and how much cooling the room requires.

    I have no thought on insurance so talk to your insurance agent.

    Business license requirements is at the stae and/or local levels. – contact them.

    based on the question, it sounds like you need to do a lot of homework before you would undertake such a project. Keep in mind that all of this assumes you know how to setup all the networking and configure the server for proper operation as well as ongoing maintenance. If not, you have to hire people to do this.

    I suggest you start your own website that you run from a personal server to get a small glimpse of what is in store. This will give you a taste of what to expect and help you choose whether to proceed with expansion.

    If DIY and using a template from a webhost….

    Approx. Monthly Minimum:
    Domain Name: $10
    Website Host: $20
    High-Bandwidth: $30
    Search Engine: $60 (varies)
    License & Taxes – sorry, not sure enough to answer
    Maintenance depends if you’re doing yourself or if you need to hire someone. – This will take a lot more time than most people reckon.
    You’ll also need to hire someone such as a graphic artist make logo, images, etc and you’ll need to trademark/copyright
